On Sunday, July 15th, I ran in the Presque Isle Half Marathon! It was the first half marathon that I have attempted, and it went as smoothly as one can hope for a first-timer. My only goal was to not stop running from start to finish. I not only did that, I finished in a decent time of 2:08:19.
The weather was a major concern, as it was predicated to rain for the duration of the race, however, the rain held out until about 10 minutes after I finished. It started to downpour as I began the slow, zombie-like shuffle to my car.
Preparation was simply a 10-mile run seven days before, and a light 5k four days prior to the race. I added hemp powder shakes to my diet, as well as 10,000 IUs of vitamin-D.
I think that with a few more of these under my belt (metaphorically speaking, of course), I will be ready for the ultimate test of will power… 26.2.
